Description

Your brief is to undertake a project shoot creating a photo-essay based on the streets of Manchester city centre. Working within the theme of street photography you will work to a brief and meet the challenge of story telling your concept through your imagery.

COURSE CONTENT

Project Design

Defining a theme: implementing a street shooting style through your lens choice & subject matter; choosing the media output; showcasing your work.

The Assignment

Pre-planning a shoot: working discretely within the field; communication and body language; story telling; legal, copyright and ethical considerations.

Camera Craft

Essential field techniques: camera set-up and management; lens choice; focusing tips and composition; seeing in colour or black & white; streamlining the workflow.

Street Shoot

Capturing purposeful street imagery: identifying photo opportunities; photographing people, places and products; building a coherent portfolio that tells a story. 

Photo Essay

The art of a narrative: identifying prime images; uniting the sequence; editing and processing the series; presentation of an individual photo essay. 

Q&A

Workshop modules are designed to be responsive to the needs of participants on the day through regular Q&A; group and individual discussion/advice.
