Leica R-Adapter TL

Having bought the M Adapter TL and being delighted with the quality of that item, coupled with the fact that it transmits the information from 6 bit M lenses, after some thought, I bought the R Adapter L. Both of my R lenses are 3 cam so I do not benefit from the transmission of metadata that I would with later ROM optics but manually setting the type of lens on the camera is no hardship. The quality of this adapter is superb and gives immense confidence. I use it primarily with a 100 mm F2 .8 APO Macro -Elmarit, circa 1994. There is no slop in either bayonet and everything feels "as one" when fitted together. Given that exotic R glass can now be bought for a fraction of its original cost, the cost of this adapter is worthwhile. I have a similar adapter made by another well-known German company that I have successfully, and regularly, used with my 180 mm F3 .4 APO Telyt (circa 1976) on a CL. Whilst it is well made, and does the job extremely well, it is just a tube whereas the R Adapter L feels like something that is part of the lens.
